Garanti Bank Moscow is a member of the Deposit Insurance Program of the Russian Federation.
As of November 18, 2004, the "Agency for Deposit Insurance" state corporation registered Garanti Bank Moscow into the list of member-banks of the Deposit Insurance Program under registration No. 197. The main purpose of the Deposit Insurance Program of the Russian Federation is to ensure the rights and legal interests of individual depositors of Russian banks, to encourage the inflow of individual customers’ savings into the banks and to reinforce trust to the Russian banking system.
The system of banking deposit insurance is regulated by the federal law "About insurance of individual deposits in banks of the Russian Federation" № 177-FZ as of 23.12.2003.
In accordance with the changes of the federal law "About insurance of individual deposits in banks of the Russian Federation", which have come into effect starting from the 14th of October, 2008, the maximum amount of the deposit compensation is increased up to 700,000 RUR.
The compensation for deposits in the bank shall be paid to a depositor in the amount of 100 per cent of the sum of the deposits in the bank but not more than 700,000 roubles in the following cases:
– General Banking License withdrawal by the Bank of Russia
– Moratorium for payments to bank’s creditors
Deposits compensations are paid in Russian rubles (RUR).
In case of foreign currency deposits, the deposit compensation is converted into RUR at the exchange rate of the Bank of Russia on the date of the insurance event.
In case an individual depositor has several deposits in the same bank, the total amount of which do not exceed 700,000 RUR, the compensation is paid for each of the deposit in proportion to its sizes.
In case an individual depositor has several deposits in different banks where the banking license was withdrawn, the compensation will be paid for each bank up to 700,000 RUR.
